POSITION TITLE: Root House Therapist
DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Counseling
REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Clinical Director
SCHEDULE: (Determined on a case by case basis) exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provide therapy and case management services to clients in need of AOD treatment services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide substance abuse counseling services to residential clients as required by the specific programs.
2. Provide substance abuse related case management as defined in State of Ohio regulations.
3. Perform services including but not limited to assessment, treatment planning, long-term counseling, psycho-education, case management, advocacy, and follow-up.
4. Conduct diagnostic assessments; provide diagnostic formulations and treatment for AoD clients following licensure standards.
5. Determine a client's appropriateness for services using the DSM-V/ICD-10 criteria for substance abuse and/or dependence.
6. Develop individualized treatment plans with clients, defining plan of services and interventions.
7. Update treatment plans according to documentation requirements.
8. Provide individual and group therapy according to the client's treatment needs. Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
9. Document clinical service delivery, maintaining accurate records and reports regarding the clients' histories and progress, services provided, and other required information in a timely manner, meeting all appropriate documentation guidelines. Develop and implement new programming.
10. Identify program needs and suggest improvements to the Clinical Director, and Program Manager of Root House. Collaborate in the development and implementation of emerging evidence-based programming.
11. Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services and other post-treatment agencies.
12. Attend staff meetings for agency communication, clinical consultation, and trainings.
13. Manage appropriate size caseload and maintain required 50% productivity standard.
14. Abide by all professional, certification, and corporate ethical standards in performance of duties.
15. Maintain current licensure to be in good standing with licensure board.
16. Provide outreach to and coordinate program services with healthcare providers, social services and legal services as needed.
17. Ensure program goal achievement and assist in creating and maintaining a positive program image in the community.
18. Comply with agency policies and procedures, certifying agency regulations, and federal, state, and local requirements.
19. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Ohio Driver's License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
2. Must possess active state licensure or certification.
3. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
4. Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
5. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
6. Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple health and criminal justice professionals.
8. Knowledge of family, community, and human service issues, organizational functioning and operations.
9. Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation).
10. Knowledge of 12-step group theory and participation.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Graduate degree in counseling or other related field. Appropriate licensure in the State of Ohio: LSW, LPC, LISW, LPCC.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: LPC eligible; Knowledge of 12-step group theory and participation.
